"Adaptation" is the story of screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (played by
Nicolas Cage), a confused L.A. screenwriter overwhelmed by feelings of inadequacy, sexual frustration, self-loathing and by the screenwriting ambitions of his overly enthusiastic, freeloading twin brother Donald (also played by Cage). While struggling to adapt "The Orchid Thief" by Susan Orlean (Meryl Streep), Kaufman,
on the advice of his brother, turns to Robert McKee's bestselling book "Story," and ends up at "Robert McKee's Story Seminar" in the film. McKee is portrayed by Emmy-winning actor Brian Cox (above with Cage).
